Well, yesterday was the Stones concert, and damn, I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say it was fucking awesome. Needless to say, it was a hell of a time, and well worth the cons. Anyway, I guess I'll fill you guys in on the deets. Lets go, shall we?
Started off at about 8:30. I got up, showered, combed my hair (which is thinner now, but about the same length.) and all that Jazz. We left for Moncton at about 10, expecting a HELL of a lot of Traffic, but there was actually next to none. That was good. We got parked and crap in the VIP section, Area 9, and we got a bus to the concert grounds. Well, halfway, I guess, we got to mountain Road and had to walk to the grounds, but it was alright. We got there early, so we waited about 10 minutes until the gates opened. I got a black wristband while we were waiting, so it was good.
The gates opened at 12, and we went and sat in our VIP section. I actually thought the VIP seats would be closer, but it was alright. The view was good enough. We went down to the VIP merchandise stand, looked at the obcenely overpriced stuff, got A Stones T-Shirt for $40, then waited for 3:00.
Once 3:00 rolled around...the moment EVERYONE was waiting for came...we saw the Legendary, GODLY, PHENOMINAL BAND....Le Trois Accords. Yes, I'm joking. They were alright, but they only sang, AND spoke, in French, which killed their heat, and the crowd didn't really recieve them all too well. They were half decent, though, as Far as I see it. They played well, and looked like they had fun out there, which is all that matters.
Then, at about 3:50, Our Lady Peace came on, and they didn't dissapoint. They were great like I knew they would be, yadda yadda yadda. They played A few of their singles, including "Where Are You?", "Innocent", "Somewhere Out There" Annd "Superman's Dead". And of course, probably the Second best moment of the night, where They did a song from their New
CD called "Wipe That Smile off your Face", and he said the song was about "George W. Fucking Bush!" which got a HUGE reaction.
At 5:00, Maroon 5 came on. Heh, I just got that. Maroon 5 Played at 5 O clock...heh...anyway. Yeah. It wasn't anything TOO special. They just basically came onstage and sang. Maroon 5 Wasn't ever my favorite band, but they were decent enough. They played all their singles and stuff. Oh yeah, and the singer sounds like a Girl live. Weird. The highlight of their set was some dude in front of our section passing out and being carried away. Then, a few hours later, they made an announcement that the dude got carried away and had to get his appendix removed or something. To me, he looked passed out drunk. XD
The Tragically Hip played at 6:30, and to be completely honest, I didn't think they were anything special. Sure, they were good singing. And yeah, they put on a bit of a show, but they weren't all they were supposed to be cracked up to be. It was kinda forgettable. To be honest with you, all I remember is thinking on how I thought the Guitarist had nice hair. That's about it.
Then, of course, came the stones. And hell, it was WORTH it. Oh god, the whole thing, it was just Surreal. With the fireworks, the flames, and the legendary Stones, it was bliss. Even though all of 'em are in their early 60s, they put on one HELL of a show. There were over 90,000 people there, and I swear, ALL of them were on their feet, feeding off the energy. I swear, they didn't stop the whole time. Mick was running around the stage, slithering almost like Voldo from Soul Calibur 2 the whole time. Twas Hilarious. But yeah, It was a once in a lifetime experience, and I enjoyed it. Oh yeah, Johnny Depp was there. ^o^;; I was like 200 Feet away from him.
Anyway, yeah. It ended at around 11:30, and we didn't get home until about 3:20, but that's another story. Hell, I saw the Stones. It was all worth spending the day there. September 3rd 2005 will ALWAYS be remembered as the night I got stoned. d('_'d)
